1. Over 17,500 gastrointestinal and liver specimens, including more than 1,200 liver specimens with extensive exposure to liver transplant pathology
2. A large-volume surgical practice with broad exposure to resected gastrointestinal, pancreatic, biliary, and liver cancers, including over 2000 gastrointestinal and liver pathology-related frozen sections
The fellowship combines diagnostic training with opportunities for research projects. There are also extensive opportunities for interactions with clinical colleagues in the form of working conferences (reviewing and discussing material from active patients), teaching conferences (explaining pathology to clinicians and clinical trainees), and attendance at clinical conferences.
