The Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital is a one-year program designed to prepare trainees for subspecialty careers in gastrointestinal pathology. For more than 20 years, our graduates have gone on to become leaders at prestigious medical institutions around the world. Working under a multidisciplinary team of gastroenterologists, surgeons, and researchers, our fellows train in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, laparoscopic bowel surgery, and clinical and basic research in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology and immunology. The Mount Sinai Hospital is also one of few facilities in the United States approved for small intestinal transplantation, giving fellows insight into the intricacies of this advanced procedure. All case sign-out is performed using a fully digital workflow (100% digital pathology with no glass slides), providing fellows with comprehensive experience in contemporary pathology practice. The fellowship includes four weeks of dedicated liver pathology training in addition to longitudinal exposure to liver pathology throughout the year.
