Program Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a one-year ACGME accredited fellowship program in GI/Liver Pathology, a section of the department of Pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a 969 bed tertiary care center. This program provides training in diagnostic GI and liver pathology including liver transplant and pancreatic pathology. We receive 15,000 GI biopsies, 1,000 GI resections, 800 liver biopsies, 80 liver resections, 70-80 liver explants, and 100 Whipple/pancreatectomy specimens annually.
The program provides ample resources including a generous annual educational stipend and support for clinical and translational research.

Fellow Responsibilities and Requirements
The Fellow will be integrated in a graduated responsibility manner into all aspects of the clinical practice of Gastrointestinal/Liver pathology on a daily basis, including diagnostic interpretation and reporting, presentation at Local and international conferences (USCAP), communication with clinical teams regarding critical diagnoses, and research. Off service time (2 days each week) is given to the fellow for research activities and conference preparation. The GI fellow is the interface of the GI section and Department with many related medical and GI/liver services
