University of Toronto Tri-hospital Fellowship

The objectives of the fellowship is to acquire an in depth knowledge of gastrointestinal pathology (including liver and pancreas), its diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and handling of complex specimens and issues that arise in routine and speciality/referral practice. To achieve this, the fellow will rotate between 3 adjacent Hospitals all with different strengths within G.I. and liver pathology and will include pediatric GI and liver pathology as well as transplant pathology. Time is divided equally between all three rotations. At least one research project is to be carried out ideally utilizing material from all three sites. We will try to ensure that any particular interest is accommodated. The facilities at all three sites include histology, tissue microarrays, immunohistochemistry/ISH/FISH, gene microarrays and other standard molecular tests.
